Jemimah Rodrigues Happy to Bat Anywhere as India Women Fine-Tune for World Cup

Jemimah Rodrigues says she is comfortable batting anywhere in India’s line-up, provided her role is clearly defined. She has moved around in recent months, batting at No. 3 against Australia and South Africa and then at No. 4 and No. 5 in the ongoing England series.

She feels adaptability matters while the team settles on its best combination. When she knows exactly what is expected, she said, she can go out and deliver.

World Cup preparation

India are working to find the right balance before the Women’s T20 World Cup, where they open against Pakistan on June 14. They are continuing to assess combinations and build depth, hoping to arrive with a settled yet versatile line-up.

Yastika Bhatia returns

A further boost has been the return from injury of wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, who has used the England series to regain fitness and rhythm after a long spell out.

Rodrigues praised the left-hander’s character and determination, especially as she made an immediate impact on her return. Coming back from injury and performing that way takes a lot of character, she said, adding that having Bhatia back is a huge advantage and that the matches are giving her valuable game time.
