Sri Lanka have named a 15-member squad for their three-match ODI series against Pakistan, with Chamari Athapaththu captaining the side. The series starts on Thursday, July 23, at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota and belongs to the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-2029 cycle.
The squad
Chamari Athapaththu (captain), Vishmi Gunaratne, Hasini Perera, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hansima Karunaratne, Kaveesha Dilhari, Nilakshika Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani, Chethana Vimukthi, Inoka Ranaweera, Nimasha Meepage, Imesha Dulani, Dewmi Vihanga, Rashmika Sewwaldi and Kawya Kavindi.
Selectors have gone for continuity after the recent T20 World Cup campaign, mixing experience with emerging talent. Silva, Gunaratne, Perera, Vihanga and Ranaweera are among the key names kept. Silva has strengthened her place in the middle order, while spinners Ranaweera and Dulani are expected to matter in Hambantota.
What is at stake
Sri Lanka are third in the Women’s Championship with four points after winning a series away to the West Indies. Two points are given for each win, so the three games against Pakistan could improve their standing and their path towards qualification for the 2029 Women’s World Cup.
Schedule
The ODIs run from July 23 to August 4, 2026. All three ODIs and the following three-match T20I series will be played at the same ground, which Sri Lanka hope to use to their advantage.
