Welsh Fire meet Southern Brave at Sophia Gardens in the 19th match of The Hundred Men’s 2026, with an evening start on Monday 3 August. The two sides have already met this season, when Welsh Fire, led by Phil Salt, opened their campaign with a six-wicket win over Brave in Southampton.
Since then Welsh Fire have won two of their next three matches and suffered one defeat, which leaves them second in the standings. Their possible XI includes Salt, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Joe Root, Rachin Ravindra and Jordan Cox, along with Marco Jansen, Chris Woakes, Lockie Ferguson and Sam Cook.
Southern Brave, captained by Chris Jordan, have had a mixed tournament, winning two and losing three of five games to sit fourth. They arrive with confidence after a five-wicket win over London Spirit in their last outing.
The surface should offer early movement before becoming a good place to bat, and the forecast is dry, so a full game is expected. Teams that preserve wickets for the final 30 balls should be best placed. Welsh Fire are the form side, but we narrowly favour Southern Brave.
Sophia Gardens usually offers an even contest in T20 cricket. Seamers can get early swing and movement, particularly under Cardiff’s frequent cloud, and good line and length is rewarded. Once batters are in, true bounce and a fast outfield make the middle overs easier for scoring. The pitch can slow as the innings wears on, which brings spinners and cutters into play. First-innings totals of 160–175 are considered competitive in T20 cricket, with 180 or more putting the chasers under pressure.
Monday evening is expected to be pleasant in Cardiff, around 27–29°C with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The chance of rain is extremely low, a light breeze could assist the seamers, and dew is not expected to play a significant role.
The 19th match of The Hundred Men’s 2026 is at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Monday 3 August, with a 6:30 pm local start.
Welsh Fire won two of their next three after an opening win over Southern Brave and sit second. Southern Brave have won two and lost three of their five games and are fourth.
About 150 or more should be competitive here, according to our preview.
