Women's CricketPakistan Women Name Asia Cup Squad With Fatima Sana Back as Captain
Pakistan announce their Women’s Asia Cup squad: Fatima Sana returns to lead, Diana Baig is left out, and the schedule clashes with the Asian Games.
Birmingham Phoenix take on MI London at Edgbaston on Wednesday 12 August in the 32nd match of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2026, with a 6:30 pm local start in hot, dry conditions.
The Phoenix’s likely XI includes Mitchell Owen, Joe Clarke, Joe Weatherley, Laurie Evans and Sean Dickson, with Donovan Ferreira captaining from the middle order. Jordan Thompson and Rehan Ahmed give all-round options, while Tom Helm, Saqib Mahmood and Usman Tariq lead the bowling.
MI London are likely to field Will Jacks, James Vince, Nicholas Pooran, captain Sam Curran, Sherfane Rutherford, Ollie Pope and Sikandar Raza. Their bowlers include Tom Curran, Trent Boult, Richard Gleeson and Nathan Sowter.
Good bounce and a fast outfield should encourage attacking batting, with a chance of early seam movement in the powerplay. Wickets in hand will matter for a late surge, and we expect MI London to edge it.
Edgbaston is usually a balanced surface. The new ball can swing and seam, especially in overcast weather, while true bounce lets batters play their shots once set. As the innings progresses the pitch eases for batting, though slower balls and spinners who vary pace can be effective in the middle overs. Teams often like to bat first here.
Wednesday 12 August is forecast to be hot, sunny and dry, around 32–33°C at the 6:30 pm local start. The chance of rain is very low. A light to moderate breeze may offer some relief, and dew is not expected to be a big factor in the early evening.
Our preview favours MI London, thanks to the batting depth of Will Jacks, James Vince, Nicholas Pooran and Sam Curran.
We think the toss is slightly in favour of bowling first for early movement, but Edgbaston data points to a fairly strong record for teams batting first, with 170 or more a strong total.
Hot, sunny and dry at around 32–33°C, with very little chance of rain.
