Player SpotlightManav Suthar Joins Warwickshire for Two County Games After Test Debut
Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, Player of the Match on his India Test debut, has signed for Warwickshire for two County Championship rounds.
Somerset welcome Glamorgan to Taunton on 4 June for the 37th match of the 2026 T20 Blast, and the visitors come with fresh confidence. Having lost their first two games, Glamorgan were being written off by many for a group-stage exit, but captain Kiran Carlson turned that around in the previous meeting with Somerset on a Friday night, hitting 109 off just 45 balls with 13 fours and six sixes in front of his home crowd.
Will Smale supported him with 40 off 27 as the pair put on 146 for the opening wicket. With the ball Nathan McAndrew was outstanding, taking 4 for 15, and Mason Crane added 3 for 42.
Somerset, captained by Lewis Gregory, are looking for revenge after a disappointing result despite a strong innings by Tom Banton at the top. They will be without James Rew, who has been called up by England. Banton, Tom Abell, Thomas Rew and Daniel Sams are expected to supply most of the runs, and Craig Overton and Jake Ball will have to lead a much improved bowling display. The pitch at Taunton favours batters, so a strong powerplay and well-executed death overs should be key.
Taunton is regarded as one of England’s most batting-friendly venues, with a true surface, consistent bounce, a quick outfield and relatively short boundaries. Fast bowlers can still find early movement, especially under cloud, but their impact usually fades as the innings progresses. Spinners have a limited role and need accuracy and variation. Big totals are common, and teams often prefer to bat first.
Pleasant conditions are forecast for the 7:00 pm local start, with temperatures of about 16–19°C that cool after sunset. Skies should be partly cloudy to mostly clear and rain is not expected. Humidity may feel higher as the night goes on, and a gentle breeze could help swing early in the innings.
James Rew has been called up to the England squad and stays with the group for the Lord’s Test.
Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson hit 109 off 45 balls and shared an opening stand of 146 with Will Smale, who made 40 off 27.
Generally yes, because batting conditions are good, and anything below 180 remains highly chaseable.
