Lahore Qalandars vs Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen Prediction & Preview – PSL 2026 Opener

Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen get Pakistan Super League 2026 under way at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday, 26 March. The opener begins at 7:30 pm local time.

Lahore, captained by Shaheen Afridi, have added some quality T20 players. Abdullah Shafique has been in good form and heads a batting group that also has Fakhar Zaman, Asif Ali, Mohammad Naeem, Tayyab Tahir and Mohammad Farooq. Hussain Talat and Sikandar Raza provide all-round depth, Haseebullah Khan and Parvez Hossain Emon are the wicketkeeping options, and Haris Rauf, Mustafizur Rahman, Usama Mir, Ubaid Shah and Dunith Wellalage make up the bowling.

Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen are captained by Saim Ayub. Hammad Azam leads a batting unit that includes Marnus Labuschagne, Sharjeel Khan, Syed Saad Ali, Rizwan Mehmood and Mohammad Tayyab Arif. Irfan Khan and Maaz Sadaqat are the all-rounders, Kusal Perera, Shayan Jahangir and Usman Khan the keepers, and Akif Javed spearheads an attack with Asif Mehmood, Ottneil Baartman, Riley Meredith and Mohammad Ali, plus Hassan Khan and Hunain Shah. On a flat track with possible dew, we back Lahore.

Pitch report

Gaddafi Stadium is generally batting-friendly, with a flat surface, consistent bounce and a fast outfield that suits limited-overs cricket. Pacers can find some swing early in day-night games before the pitch eases, and spinners may get help in the middle overs without dominating. Dew often matters in the evening, so teams usually prefer to chase.

Weather

Lahore should be pleasant at 8:00 pm local time on 26 March, with temperatures around 22–24 °C and partly cloudy skies. The chance of rain is very low and light winds will keep conditions comfortable, though some humidity may bring dew later and slightly favour the team batting second.

Expected scores

• 1st innings: 170–185
• 2nd innings: 160–175
