Women's CricketShree Charani Becomes Fastest Indian to 50 T20I Wickets
Left-arm spinner Shree Charani reached 50 T20I wickets in her 29th match, one game quicker than Kuldeep Yadav’s Indian record, against Bangladesh.
India Women meet Bangladesh Women in the first semi-final of the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India won all three group matches to top Group A, beating Thailand, Hong Kong China and Pakistan under Harmanpreet Kaur. Their batting has not been at its best through the tournament and it remains an area to improve before the knockout stage.
Bangladesh secured their place in the last four with a 34-run win over UAE Women and finished second in Group B with two wins from three games.
Although Bangladesh have struggled against India in T20Is, the spin-friendly conditions in Dubai give them hope. If their bowlers put India’s batting under pressure, the contest could be a lot closer than the head-to-head suggests. India’s stronger batting makes 155 or more a realistic target if they bat first, while a score of 150–160 is likely to be a strong total.
Dubai typically provides a balanced T20 surface with early help for the quicks. It can be dry and slow, so spinners and slower balls come into play in the middle overs, though batters who settle find it easier under lights. Dew may make the ball skid on and favour the chasing side. A first-innings score of 155–165 is regarded as competitive, and 170-plus would give the batting team a strong advantage.
Hot, clear and dry conditions are expected, with temperatures near 35–36°C at 6:30 pm local time. Rain is highly unlikely, humidity should be moderate and winds light to moderate. There is no major threat of interruption. Dew could develop later in the evening and make the ball skid more in the second innings, though the heat will be demanding.
They won all three group matches, against Thailand, Hong Kong China and Pakistan, to finish top of Group A.
They beat UAE Women by 34 runs and finished second in Group B after winning two of their three matches.
Around 145–150 gives Bangladesh a chance, while 155-plus is a realistic target for India if they bat first.
