NewsShaheen Afridi Gets Clearance to Play Lanka Premier League for Kandy Royals
Shaheen Afridi has received a no-objection certificate to play his first Lanka Premier League season for Kandy Royals, after missing Pakistan’s Tests.
Dambulla Sixers and Kandy Falcons meet again at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday 21 July, only a few days after the Sixers opened their campaign by beating the Falcons. It is the sixth match of the Lanka Premier League 2026.
In that first game Reeza Hendricks held the innings together with an unbeaten 87, and Gulbadin Naib hit hard at the end to push the Sixers to 205/6. Their bowlers then defended the total well and won by 18 runs. Kandy chased with real intent and kept the pressure on, but finished 18 short of the 206 target.
The Falcons will want to learn from that chase and level the series of results. Dambulla’s pitch should again suit a competitive game, with early pace for the quicks and more help for the spinners as the evening goes on. If dew arrives, bowling first may be preferred, although a score near 175 or more could prove decisive. Given the confidence they carry from the opener, we back the Sixers to win again.
Dambulla generally gives bat and ball a similar chance. There is pace and bounce early on, the new ball can move during the powerplay, and the dry surface helps spinners as the game moves along. The outfield is quick, so well-timed shots are rewarded, though bowlers who vary pace and length can still do damage. Totals of 165–180 usually leave a team well placed.
Warm, humid weather is expected for the 7:30 pm local start on 21 July, with temperatures of 27–28°C under partly to mostly cloudy skies. A short passing shower is possible, but a full game is most likely. Rising humidity could bring some dew in the second innings.
Dambulla Sixers won by 18 runs, defending 205/6 after Reeza Hendricks scored an unbeaten 87.
We pick Dambulla Sixers, who have the confidence of the earlier win.
Dew is possible later in the evening, so bowling first is a reasonable choice, although 175 or more could still win the game.
