Northamptonshire vs Glamorgan Prediction & Preview – T20 Blast 2026
Northamptonshire, two-time T20 Blast champions in 2013 and 2016, reached the semi-finals in 2025 before narrowly losing to eventual winners Somerset. Captain David Willey scored 452 runs and took 20 wickets that year, and Ricardo Vasconcelos added 342 at a strike rate of 142.50. Ravi Bopara and Sikandar Raza provide experience in the middle order, Bopara having hit an unbeaten 105 off 46 balls in last season’s quarter-final, and Saif Zaib offers flexibility. In the attack, Willey, Ben Sanderson, George Scrimshaw and leg-spinner Lloyd Pope give variety.
Glamorgan come in after promotion to Division One of the County Championship in 2025 and are now led by Kiran Carlson. Marnus Labuschagne adds high-class experience at the crease and Colin Ingram remains a dependable run-scorer, with Carlson, Dan Douthwaite and Michael Neser supplying balance and late power. Timm van der Gugten took 34 wickets in 2025, and Afghan left-armer Fazalhaq Farooqi offers a threat in the powerplay.
The pitch should give early help to the seamers and flatten out later, so total control through the middle overs may decide this one. Our preview gives Northamptonshire the edge thanks to their depth and home conditions.

Pitch report
The County Ground at Wantage Road is generally balanced. Seamers can find movement and bounce early, particularly under cloud, making the powerplay testing. The pitch tends to ease as the innings goes on, helping set batters, and spinners get some help in the middle overs but not excessive turn, so accuracy matters. A par T20 score is usually 165–180, and 175-plus is considered competitive for the side batting first.
Weather
Northampton should be warm and pleasant at around 6:30 pm on 22 May, with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s Celsius, cooling slowly later. Little to no rain is forecast, so a full uninterrupted match is likely.
Expected scores
- 1st innings: 170–185
- 2nd innings: 165–180
