Nellai Royal Kings vs Madurai Panthers Prediction & Match Preview – TNPL 28th Match

Nellai Royal Kings meet Siechem Madurai Panthers in the 28th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The match starts at 7:30 pm local time on Saturday.

Nellai’s probable XI is captained by Sonu Yadav and keeps Rithik Easwaran behind the stumps. It also features D Santhosh Kumar, Athish SR, Ajitesh Guruswamy and U Mukilesh in the batting group, and NS Harish, Sachin Rathi, Emmanuel Cherian and Valliappan Yudheeswaran among the bowlers.

Madurai are led by Balchander Anirudh, with R Ram Kumar as wicketkeeper. Their squad includes Atheeq Ur Rahman, Hari Ragavendra V, Shoaib Md Khan, NS Chaturved, Gurjapneet Singh and Ganeshan Periyaswamy.

The key factor could be dew. A night start means the ball may skid on in the second innings, and a total of 165–175 would be a decent target for the side batting first. The powerplay should offer the best scoring chances before the surface slows and spinners take hold. A shower is possible, so a short delay should not be ruled out. We give Nellai a marginal advantage.

Pitch report

The Chennai surface is generally balanced but can become slower and grip more as the innings progresses, which brings spinners into the game. The powerplay offers the best chance of stroke-making and the middle overs may be harder work. Under lights, dew could become increasingly important in the second innings and help the chasing side.

Weather

Warm and humid weather is expected, with temperatures around 28–30°C and partly cloudy skies. There is a low to moderate chance of passing showers or thunderstorms, so a brief interruption cannot be ruled out. Moderate winds should offer some relief and dew could develop later.

Expected scores

• 1st innings: 165–175
• 2nd innings: 155–170
