Joburg Super Kings host Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the Wanderers in the 11th match of SA20 2025-26. The Super Kings are the only unbeaten side after a thrilling win over Durban Super Giants. They scored 205/4, helped by Shubham Ranjane’s 50 off 31 balls, and Durban matched it at 205/8, forcing the first Super Over in SA20 history. Durban made just 5 in it and Rilee Rossouw struck two boundaries to win. Richard Gleeson took 3/41 in his four overs.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape suffered their first defeat of the season against Paarl Royals. Choosing to bat, they were bowled out for 149, with Jordan Hermann top-scoring on 47 off 35 balls, and Paarl chased it down by five wickets in 19.4 overs. Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each.

Joburg’s likely XI is built around Faf du Plessis, Rossouw, Wiaan Mulder and Ranjane, with Akeal Hosein and Gleeson in the attack. The Sunrisers can call on Jonny Bairstow, Quinton de Kock, Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs, with Jansen, Nortje and Adam Milne leading the bowling.

It is a tight call, but we think Sunrisers will respond well after their setback.

Pitch report

The Wanderers is traditionally hard, fast and bouncy. Batters who get their eye in can play through the line, and the quick outfield turns good shots into boundaries. Fast bowlers like the pace, carry and occasional seam movement early, and although the pitch usually stays true it can slow a little, giving spinners and change-of-pace bowlers a role. Short square boundaries and altitude help high scoring.

Weather

The early-afternoon start should be warm and mostly sunny at about 24–26 °C. Cloud may build up with a slight chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms later in the afternoon, and light to moderate winds are expected.
