Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings face each other for the second time in four days, now in the SA20 2025-26 Eliminator at SuperSport Park. The Royals missed a top-two finish with a 44-run defeat at Boland Park. They started well with the ball but let JSK’s middle order take control late, conceding 166 in all.
Chasing 167, the Royals never got going. Dan Lawrence hit a brisk 45 and Lhuan-dre Pretorius added 32, but the rest struggled against the JSK spinners. Captain David Miller was unable to bat because of injury, and Paarl were bowled out for 122 in 18.1 overs, ending their league campaign. Miller’s fitness will be closely watched.
The result secured a playoff place for Joburg Super Kings, along with a valuable bonus point. Batting first, they made 166 for 5 thanks to Leus du Plooy’s unbeaten 54 off 27 balls and a strong 39 from Neil Timmers at the start. On a pitch with uneven bounce, their bowlers were sharp. Prenelan Subrayen took 3 for 14, Imran Tahir 2 for 17 and Nandre Burger helped finish off the tail, with all five bowlers used taking wickets. The Royals will need to counter that spin better in the rematch.
