Hosein and Moqim Join Perth Scorchers Squad for Global Super League 2026

Perth Scorchers have added left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein and left-arm wrist-spinner Sufyan Moqim to their squad for the 2026 Global Super League.

About the tournament

The third edition runs from July 23 to August 1 at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Five champion franchises from T20 leagues around the world will chase a US$1 million prize pool: Perth Scorchers, defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors, Lahore Qalandars, Desert Vipers and debutants San Francisco Unicorns.

Regular captain Ashton Turner will lead Perth, with Australian quick Jhye Richardson and all-rounder Aaron Hardie also in the squad. Head coach Adam Voges is unavailable because of his Trent Rockets commitments in The Hundred, so former Australian batter Simon Katich will take charge.

Scorchers’ fixtures

• July 23: Lahore Qalandars
• July 26: San Francisco Unicorns
• July 28: Desert Vipers
• July 29: Guyana Amazon Warriors

The side finishing top goes straight to the final, while the second and third-placed teams meet in a qualifier for the other place.

Spin reinforcements

Hosein, 32, is a regular in the West Indies white-ball set-up and has built a strong reputation in franchise leagues for accuracy, control and bowling in the powerplay.

Moqim made his T20I debut for Pakistan in 2023 and has become an exciting talent through consistent displays for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. Both strengthen an attack that also has Richardson’s pace and Hardie’s all-round skills.

Perth are the third Australian side in the event after Cricket Victoria and Hobart Hurricanes. Guyana Amazon Warriors won the 2025 edition, and Rangpur Riders took the first title in 2024.
