MS Dhoni did not travel with Chennai Super Kings to Delhi and is instead continuing his rehabilitation in Chennai. A senior team official told Cricbuzz that he should be available at some stage.
Dhoni yet to play this season
Dhoni has not featured at all in the current season. His most recent IPL appearance came against Gujarat Titans on May 25, 2025. CSK have not fully ruled out a return later in the tournament.
Over his IPL career he has scored 5,439 runs in 278 matches at an average of 38.30 and a strike rate of 137.45, including 24 half-centuries, and he has captained CSK to five titles.
CSK’s campaign and remaining fixtures
Chennai are sixth in the table with four wins from nine matches. They are still in playoff contention but need strong results in their remaining games.
The five-time champions lost their first three matches before beating Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Results since then have been mixed, with defeats against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans but also important wins over Mumbai Indians.
After the Delhi game, CSK host Lucknow Super Giants on May 10 and visit Lucknow on May 15. They then play Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on May 18 and finish their league stage against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 21.
