Ashwin lauds Gujarat Titans’ calm, process-driven chase against Punjab Kings

Ravichandran Ashwin has paid tribute to Gujarat Titans for the measured way they went about chasing a target against Punjab Kings, calling their approach notably composed once again.

Structure over aggression

According to Ashwin, the Titans’ batting group leans on planning and a careful reading of match conditions rather than on out-and-out aggressive intent. He believes that discipline lets them adjust as a chase unfolds and carry out their plans properly when the pressure builds.

He also pointed to the franchise’s long-term record. In his view, the consistency they have shown over the years comes from sticking to a clear process, and he gave credit to both management and players for trusting it in tight situations.

Washington Sundar’s contribution

The former India player singled out Washington Sundar for his work in the middle order during a tense stage of the chase. Ashwin said Sundar stepped up when the moment called for calm and responsibility.

He described the innings as extremely important, adding that Sundar handled the pressure well, made sure the chase was completed and finished the job in a clinical, unhurried way.

Ashwin’s comments reflect a view that Gujarat’s success is less about flair than about repeatable habits, with players who understand their roles and a team structure that does not change under pressure.
