The top two teams in the SA20 standings meet at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday 15 January, when Pretoria Capitals take on Paarl Royals in the 25th match of the 2025-26 season. Little separates the sides, and the result could matter a great deal for the race to finish near the top.
The Capitals have won four of their eight games and lead the table. They come in with three wins on the bounce and will want to keep that run going on their home ground. Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford and Dewald Brevis form the core of a batting order that Keshav Maharaj leads, while Lungi Ngidi and Lizaad Williams head the pace options.
Paarl Royals have been just as convincing. They are second with four wins from seven matches and are captained by David Miller. Sikandar Raza and Mujeeb Ur Rahman add all-round and spin quality, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Rubin Hermann bring batting depth to the top of the order. With both sides playing well, our preview expects a closely fought contest in which the new ball and a good start with the bat could prove decisive.
