Shree Charani Becomes Fastest Indian to 50 T20I Wickets

Left-arm spinner Shree Charani reached 50 T20I wickets in her 29th match, one game quicker than Kuldeep Yadav’s Indian record, against Bangladesh.

Shree Charani has become the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 T20I wickets, getting there in her 29th match. The previous Indian record belonged to Kuldeep Yadav, who needed 30 games.

How the milestone came

The left-arm spinner reached the mark against Bangladesh by removing opener Juairiya Ferdous in the sixth over. Ferdous tried to play across the line and top-edged the ball, and Richa Ghosh took the catch behind the stumps. She made 14 from 18 balls.

Charani followed up with a maiden over, bowling a tight line outside off stump to keep Sobhana Mostary quiet.

A quick rise

Charani debuted internationally in April 2025 and has swiftly become a central figure in India’s spin attack. At the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup she took 14 wickets in five matches and finished as the leading wicket-taker.

She has also been named Player of the Series on India’s tour of England and has contributed for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League. Fifty wickets in 29 matches adds another landmark to a career that is still young.
