He played a part in Bangladesh’s win over India at the 2007 World Cup, one of the best-known upsets in the history of the tournament.

Playing style

Mashrafe bowled with pace, a full length and good swing early in his career. After surgery he changed his method and relied more on accuracy and cutters. Batting low in the order, he could also strike the ball cleanly.
