The Netherlands have named a 14-player squad, captained by Babette de Leede, for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. The squad was made public on 2 November, and the tournament runs from 12 to 25 November.
The full squad is: Babette de Leede (captain), Carlijn van Koolwijk, Caroline de Lange, Frédérique Overdijk, Hannah Landheer, Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling, Myrthe van den Raad, Phebe Molkenboer, Robine Rijke, Rosalie Lawrence, Sanya Khurana, Silver Siegers and Sterre Kalis.
Most of the group took part earlier this year in the Netherlands' first appearance at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, played in England and Wales. Carlijn van Koolwijk is among the players who were not in the T20 World Cup squad.
The Dutch side arrives after a 1-1 ODI series against Scotland at the end of the summer. In the first match, at Clydesdale Cricket Club on 28 August, Molkenboer batted through the 50 overs for 106 from 144 balls and de Leede made 69 as the Netherlands posted 270 for 4 and won by 58 runs.
Group B and the format
This is the second edition of the tournament, with ten teams. Five Full Members, Ireland, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, join five Associates: the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand and the UAE.
The Netherlands are in Group B with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and the defending champions, Thailand. They open against Thailand on 12 November at Seven Districts Sports Club, with a 13:15 local start. Group A is made up of Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and the UAE.
The group stage runs from 12 to 18 November. The top three sides in each group go through to a Super Six on 20, 22 and 23 November, in which each team plays the three qualifiers from the other group. The top two in the Super Six meet in the final at Karwan Sports Club Cricket Ground on 25 November.
Several other teams have also named their squads. Pakistan picked 14 players under Muneeba Ali, with Ayesha Zafar as vice-captain, and Sri Lanka will be led by Harshitha Samarawickrama. As of 4 November, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, the UAE and Zimbabwe had not announced their squads.
