Tripura beat Saurashtra by 133 runs in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala on 5 November, their first win of the 2026-27 season. Set 342 to win, Saurashtra were bowled out for 208 on the fourth and final day.

Sridam Paul was named Player of the Match after scoring 86 in the first innings and 50 in the second. His first-innings knock was the core of Tripura’s 268, an innings in which Saurashtra’s Parth Bhut took 5 for 65. Bhut finished the match with eight wickets.

The game turned on Saurashtra’s first innings. They were dismissed for 118 in 45.5 overs, with Parvez Sultan taking 5 for 25 and off-spinner Sandip Sarkar four wickets. That gave Tripura a first-innings lead of 150. Saurashtra fought back to bowl Tripura out for 191 in the second innings, but the target was already a big one.

Final-day resistance falls short

Saurashtra started the last day on 131 for 7 and needed another 211 runs. Arpit Vasavada held one end, batting 189 balls for 89 before he was run out, but the tail could not stay with him. Sandip Sarkar finished with 4 for 81 to complete eight wickets in the match, and seamer Abhijit Sarkar took 3 for 26. Between them the two Sarkars took seven of the ten second-innings wickets.

The result matters for Tripura, who had gone through their first three matches of the season without a win. Saurashtra, who have won the Ranji Trophy twice, were beaten despite bowling Tripura out twice for under 270, after their own batting collapsed for 118 in the first innings.

Elsewhere in Group B in the same round, Hyderabad beat Chhattisgarh by one wicket in a tight chase, Karnataka beat Assam by an innings, and Punjab drew with Andhra after Sanvir Singh made 205.
