Colombo Strikers and Kandy Falcons both come into this LPL 2026 fixture at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Sunday 19 July looking for their first win of the season. Strikers lost their opener to Galle Marvels, while Falcons went down to Dambulla Sixers.
Despite the defeat, Strikers took positives from their batting. Captain Kusal Mendis made 79 off 53 balls, with two fours and seven sixes, and Ben McDermott supported him with 57 off 34. Rubin Hermann, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kamindu Mendis complete a top order with plenty of power. With the ball they will look to Binura Fernando, Hasan Mahmud, Wanuja Sahan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Janith Liyanage and James Neesham, with Mujeeb and Malsha Tharupathi taking a wicket each in the opener.
Kandy have an experienced line-up led by Angelo Mathews. Dale Phillips scored 52 off 39 in their last game, Lahiru Udara hit 44 off 28 and Vijay Shankar finished unbeaten on 41 from 18 balls. Their bowling is headed by Shaheen Afridi, Nuwan Thushara, Asitha Fernando, Dushan Hemantha and Wanindu Hasaranga, with Hemantha and Thushara taking two wickets apiece last time out. Dew could favour chasing, so we expect the toss winner to bowl, and around 170 should be enough to win.
