Colombo Kaps face Kandy Royals in the Eliminator of Lanka Premier League 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, with the loser going out.
Colombo Kaps have Kamindu Mendis as captain and Sadeera Samarawickrama as wicketkeeper. Rubin Hermann, Janith Liyanage, Ashen Bandara and James Neesham give the batting order variety, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wanuja Sahan, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake, Malsha Tharupathi and Ripon Mondol form the bowling group.
Kandy are captained by Wanindu Hasaranga, with Kusal Perera keeping wicket. Their possible XI includes Lahiru Udara, Pawan Sandesh, Dale Phillips and Moeen Ali, and the attack has pace from Asitha Fernando, Nuwan Thushara and Shaheen Afridi, along with Zahir Khan and Dushan Hemantha.
The pitch should balance bat and ball, with spin important as it slows. Dew may arrive in the second innings, so captains could choose to bowl first. In a knockout game, execution in the death overs with both bat and ball could prove decisive. A first-innings total of 170–175 would be highly competitive, and we back Colombo Kaps.
