Bangladesh host West Indies in the second and final Test of their series at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet, from Thursday 5 November to Monday 9 November 2026. Wisden's series guide gives a 10:00 local start for both Tests (9:30 am IST), and Wikipedia's series page confirms the dates and venue but does not list a start time. The series is part of the 2025-27 World Test Championship.
What is at stake
West Indies lead 1-0. In the first Test in Dhaka, which started on 28 October, Bangladesh won the toss and batted, scoring 272 and 142. West Indies replied with 245 and then reached 170/2 to win by eight wickets, inside four of the five scheduled days. Jomel Warrican was player of the match after taking 5/53 in Bangladesh’s first innings, and Joshua Bishop made his Test debut. The win gave West Indies 12 World Test Championship points and Bangladesh none. West Indies therefore need only avoid defeat at Sylhet to take the series, while Bangladesh must win to share it.
Captains and squads
Najmul Hossain Shanto captains Bangladesh and Roston Chase captains West Indies, with Warrican as his vice-captain. Wikipedia reports that Mominul Haque has been ruled out of the second Test with a head injury and replaced by Amite Hasan. Both sources list Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed in the Bangladesh squad. West Indies squad members named by both include Kemar Roach, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Kavem Hodge, Justin Greaves and Joshua Da Silva. Wisden also notes that Alzarri Joseph withdrew for workload management and that Nahid Rana is injured. The two lists differ in places, so no XI is named here.
History between the sides
Wisden notes that West Indies won 2-0 the last time they toured Bangladesh, in 2021. No wider head-to-head record is given here.
The venue
Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is the host of the final Test. No pitch report, forecast or toss information has been published in our sources, so conditions are not covered.
What to watch
- Warrican’s spin in the first Test returned a five-wicket haul; whether the Sylhet surface helps spin is not yet known.
- Bangladesh lose Mominul from a batting group that managed only 142 in their second innings at Dhaka.
- With a series lead, West Indies can concentrate on not losing; Bangladesh need a result inside five days.
Prediction
No pick or expected scores are given. The sources give no pitch report, weather forecast or team news beyond the squads, so there is no basis for a forecast.
