Former Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak will move into coaching by joining the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s High Performance Unit in June. Razzak confirmed the news on Monday.

Reshuffle at the HP Unit

Razzak has previously sat on the national selection panel and served as a director on the earlier BCB board headed by Aminul Islam. His arrival comes as part of a wider reshuffle. National senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin has been named head of the unit and is expected to take over once the ongoing series against Pakistan is finished.

Preparing for the job

According to Cricbuzz, Razzak has long been keen on coaching. To prepare, he finished his Level 3 coaching certification in January 2026.

He said his own playing days will be useful when guiding young cricketers, including the experience of remodelling his bowling action during his career.

A long international career

Razzak played 13 Tests, 34 T20Is and 153 ODIs for Bangladesh and took more than 250 international wickets across the formats. He now hopes to contribute to player development from the coaching side.
