Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma: How Their T20I Captaincy Records Compare

A look at the numbers behind Suryakumar Yadav’s and Rohit Sharma’s T20I captaincy, from win percentage to runs scored and World Cup records.

Suryakumar Yadav led India to a T20 World Cup title at home, but patchy batting form and a poor IPL 2026 helped persuade the selectors to make a change as they prepare for the 2028 T20 World Cup cycle. With that in mind, here is how his captaincy numbers compare with those of Rohit Sharma.

Verdict

Suryakumar’s tenure brought a strong win rate and an ICC title, but Rohit leads on win percentage, aggregate runs and consistency. They were two successful but different eras for India.
