Off-spinner Tanush Kotian took a career-best eight for 81 as Mumbai beat Haryana by 10 wickets in Mumbai on Thursday 29 October. The result gave Mumbai a third successive bonus-point win in Elite Group D of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy.

Kotian finished with 11 wickets in the match. Haryana were dismissed for 270 in reply to Mumbai’s 430 and made to follow on, and their second innings ended on 256, leaving Mumbai 97 to win. Angkrish Raghuvanshi reached fifty off 29 balls and finished unbeaten on 67 from 39, hitting three sixes, while Divyaansh Saxena made 30 not out from 25. Mumbai needed only 10.4 overs.

Haryana began the final day on 73 for two, still 87 runs behind. Himanshu Rana (46) and Nishant Sindhu (44) both got starts without going on, and Samant Jakhar (40) and Anuj Thakral (40 not out) added 81 for the eighth wicket.

Mumbai’s first-innings 430 was built on two centuries: 114 from Raghuvanshi and 109 from Musheer Khan.

Mumbai’s start to the season

The win was worth seven points to Mumbai, with none for Haryana. Mumbai now have 21 points from three matches and lead Group D, having already taken bonus-point wins over Chandigarh at home and Himachal Pradesh away. Their fourth-round match, away to Railways, began on 2 November.

Of the group’s three other third-round matches, Tamil Nadu beat Railways by five wickets and the other two were drawn. Rajasthan took a first-innings lead against Uttarakhand in Dehradun, and Chandigarh piled up 685 for five declared against Himachal Pradesh.

Kotian, 28, was player of the tournament when Mumbai won the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy. In December 2024 he was added to India’s Test squad in Australia after R Ashwin retired.
