The latest ICC rankings update has brought career-best positions for several batters, led by India’s Devdutt Padikkal and Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha.

Batting: India and Sri Lanka

Padikkal made a superb 117 in the first innings and rose five places, from 59th to a career-best 54th. India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel advanced from 83rd to 65th after an unbeaten 115.

Dinusha’s climb was even steeper. Two centuries in the second Test against India in Colombo took him to a career-best 25th, with an average of 86.57 after five Tests. Team-mate Pasindu Sooriyabandara scored 80 and 92 in only his second Test and jumped 170 places to 74th, while Kamindu Mendis returned to the top 10 after another half-century.

Bowling movers

Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando rose four places to 11th. For India, Manav Suthar moved up to 44th and Mohammed Siraj gained one place to 17th.

England’s Ollie Robinson continued his rise after taking eight for 35 at Lord’s in the 2-0 series lead over Pakistan. He went up six places to fifth, one below his career best. Josh Tongue reached a career-high 13th after five wickets in the match.

Pakistan players

Mohammad Abbas gained 10 places to joint-15th after nine wickets, and Mohammad Ali climbed 11 spots to 81st. Saud Shakeel’s 97 in the second innings lifted him 15 places to 18th, whereas Babar Azam dropped five places to 15th.
