Yuvraj Singh Expected to Join Delhi Capitals Coaching Staff for IPL 2027

Yuvraj Singh is expected to join the Delhi Capitals coaching set-up ahead of the 2027 IPL season, according to reports. He would work with Sourav Ganguly, his former India captain, who is the franchise’s Director of Cricket.

It would also be a kind of homecoming for Yuvraj, who played for Delhi Daredevils, the franchise’s earlier name, in the 2015 IPL.

Why he fits

A senior source said many of Yuvraj’s former teammates, including Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag, already hold IPL coaching roles. The source described him as a late entrant who has nonetheless spent plenty of time with young players and understands what coaching demands.

A two-time IPL champion, Yuvraj has built a strong name as a mentor in recent years. He is credited with a key part in the development of Abhishek Sharma and India captain Shubman Gill. Before IPL 2026 he also worked closely with Rishabh Pant during a preparation stint with Lucknow Super Giants.

The source called him a hands-on mentor who spends long hours on the field working directly with players in training, an approach said to have helped several cricketers improve markedly.

Yuvraj is also widely recognised for nurturing Punjab talents such as Prabhsimran Singh, Anmolpreet Singh and Naman Dhir, which adds weight to his credentials ahead of an official IPL coaching debut.
