Adelaide Strikers Women host Sydney Thunder Women at Adelaide Oval in the 27th match of WBBL 2025. The Strikers sit sixth after six matches with two wins, three losses and a washout, while the Thunder are seventh with two wins and four losses and a net run rate of minus 0.519.
The Strikers opened with a rain-affected washout against the Stars and a seven-wicket win over the Renegades, before narrow defeats to Perth Scorchers (twice) and Hobart Hurricanes. They then beat Brisbane Heat off the final ball. After the Heat were held to 169/5, Laura Wolvaardt and Tammy Beaumont each scored 51 in a chase of 170/4, and Amanda-Jade Wellington and Sophie Ecclestone bowled well. Darcie Brown has 10 wickets at an economy of 6.65.
The Thunder lost their first three games before beating Scorchers by nine wickets and the Heat by 41 runs, then lost to the Renegades by eight wickets. Anika Learoyd has made 238 runs at an average of 39.67, and Shabnim Ismail has nine wickets in six matches, with Samantha Bates on 12.
Strikers lead recent meetings 3–2. On a true pitch with a fast outfield, early wickets will be crucial to controlling the game.
