Kishan and Sooryavanshi Trade DRS Jokes After Duleep Trophy Win

East Zone captain Ishan Kishan and his deputy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have shared a light-hearted exchange about their DRS moments in the 2026 Duleep Trophy final. The match against South Zone was drawn, but East Zone took the title through their first-innings lead.

Who took the review?

The 15-year-old Sooryavanshi drew attention with his assured review calls. In one instance he urged Kishan to review a decision. In a video released by BCCI Domestic, Kishan joked that Sooryavanshi had taken all the credit, as he himself had already planned to ask for the review.

Sooryavanshi replied by reminding Kishan who had been taking reviews whenever the captain was off the field.

Taking charge

Kishan did leave the field briefly, and Sooryavanshi took over the captaincy. In that period Mohammed Shami found the edge of Smaran Ravichandran’s bat, wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra appealed, and Sooryavanshi quickly called for a review. It went East Zone’s way, and Ravichandran was out for 23.

Kishan’s praise

Kishan said Sooryavanshi is more than a very good player, describing him as a kind person who looks after everyone in the squad, junior or senior. He hoped the youngster would become even more dangerous, and expected many more performances like this.

With the bat, Sooryavanshi made 44 off 37 balls in the first innings, with five fours and a six, and eight in the second.
