The International League T20 2025-26 begins in Dubai with the defending champions, the Dubai Capitals, taking on the Desert Vipers. Dasun Shanaka captains the Capitals in a squad that blends experience with some exciting new additions, and the team has found form at the right moment.
A new opening pair of Sediqullah Atal and Leus du Plooy is expected, with Gulbadin Naib at No. 3 and Rovman Powell and Jordan Cox to follow. Shanaka, James Neesham and Mohammad Nabi can add late acceleration. Tymal Mills adds punch to the pace attack alongside Haider Ali, while Waqar Salamkheil and Naib offer control in the middle overs.
The Vipers finished top of the table last season but struggled in the final against the Capitals, and they have historically found the Dubai side hard to beat. Lockie Ferguson takes the captaincy from Sam Curran. Fakhar Zaman and Andries Gous open, with Daniel Lawrence, Max Holden and Curran in the middle order and Shimron Hetmyer and Sanjay Pahal lower down. Ferguson and Noor Ahmed lead the bowling, with Qais Ahmed, Curran, David Payne and Naseem Shah providing depth.
