Imam-ul-Haq’s Lord’s Injury Reportedly Under PCB Scrutiny

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq, sent home after a calf injury at Lord’s, is reportedly the subject of a PCB inquiry; no formal charges have been announced.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is reportedly looking into the circumstances of Imam-ul-Haq’s injury at Lord’s. No formal charges or fresh ban have been announced, and the reported investigation is still under way.

What happened at Lord’s

Imam suffered a left calf muscle injury while fielding on day one of the second Test. He left the field after tea and did not bat in either innings, with Salman Ali Agha acting as a substitute fielder.

Scans reportedly showed the extent of the problem, and team management advised about 10 days of rest. He was later one of seven players sent home as Pakistan overhauled their touring squad following defeats in the first two Tests.

The earlier New Zealand case

Reports citing Geo.tv say a PCB committee that examined an incident on Pakistan’s 2025 tour of New Zealand found that Imam had misrepresented a toe injury. The committee reportedly saw medical evidence of no fracture or dislocation, concluded he had overstated his symptoms, and recommended disciplinary action including a ban across formats. The exact match and date of those proceedings have not been independently confirmed.

The current matter is a separate inquiry into his withdrawal from the Lord’s Test. Selection committee member Aaqib Javed has reportedly called the circumstances a serious concern.

Outlook for the series

Pakistan have lost both completed Tests heavily, prompting wide-ranging changes to the touring party. With Imam already home and the PCB reportedly examining his case, a return during this series looks unlikely.
