The eighth game of the T20 Blast 2026 brings Essex and Sussex together at the County Ground in Chelmsford. Reported dates for this fixture differ, so the day and start time are not stated here.
Essex, the 2019 T20 Blast champions, are looking for more consistency this season and for a balanced team performance. The batting leans on Dean Elgar, Jordan Cox, Michael Kyle-Pepper, Matthew Critchley and Luc Benkenstein for runs. With the ball, they expect key moments from Mohammad Amir, Shane Snater, Benkenstein, Critchley and Paul Walter, and powerplay and middle-over control will be crucial.
Sussex, under head coach Paul Farbrace and captain Tymal Mills, also want better results. James Coles, John Simpson, Daniel Hughes, Tom Clark and Tom Alsop form the batting core, while Nathan McAndrew, Mills, Henry Crocombe and Ollie Robinson are asked to strike regularly and restrict scoring. They have talented individuals, and the challenge is turning that into match-winning performances.
On a good Chelmsford pitch, a competitive total is likely, and the side that handles the early movement better should prevail.
